Cauca viejo

About the destination: Cauca Viejo

Cauca Viejo is a project that was born 20 years ago, with the purpose of keeping alive the legacy of Antioquia's colonization, the migratory and settlement phenomenon between 1780 and 1950, where several settlers left Antioquia and established their homes, founded towns and they colonized new territories, taking with them values, traditions and chores, which materialized in the economy, especially coffee and the typical architecture of peasant housing.

In Cauca Viejo, the summer houses, with swimming pools, wide spaces and bright colors, try to recreate that picturesque aesthetic of colonization. The houses are characterized by beautiful and varied architectural elements, where patios, balconies and wide corridors are of the utmost importance. Also, noble materials such as wood and stone play an essential role in the concept of the habitat.

The town in general preserves a colonial style, has a central square with a church and a fountain, as well as cobbled streets and beautiful gardens.  As already indicated above, Cauca Viejo belongs to the town of Jericó, declared a cultural heritage of the nation, also known as the Athens of the Southwest, it was founded in the high mountains of the western Andes mountain range. It has beautiful and varied natural and cultural riches, which position it as a natural, cultural and religious tourist destination that is gaining more and more strength.
